Djokovic, Morrison şi Hawke  –  Djokovic, Morrison and Hawke

Un blog despre dependenţa de adevăr

Djokovic, Morrison şi Hawke  –  Djokovic, Morrison and Hawke

Simplu, nu-i aşa?

English Version

I am convinced the name Novak Djokovic is even known to the Eskimos at the North Pole. Scott Morrison and Alex Hawke are not known for ninety-nine percent of this planet. Only if someone is curious to do a Google search. Could be found is about the Prime Minister of Australia and the Minister for Immigration. History will confirm the difference in notoriety, when Nole will remain in everyone’s memories, as the number one, in tennis, for 7.9 billion inhabitants of the Earth, while the other two will appear in the dusty archives of Australian politics.

From the very beginning, I think Novak was wrong. And not him, first of all, but the team of professionals he has. They did not have to agree to leave Serbia, no matter what assurances they received from the organizers of the Australian Open tennis tournament. Djokovic is a star who does not have time to analyze the anti-pandemic policy promoted by one state or another or to assess the risks of not respecting certain rules. It was clear that his presence in Australia would be turned into a huge media topic, especially since politicians needed to show that the law applies to everyone, which I completely agree with. The problem is how this law applies and, especially, how a single person on this planet is treated.

He was systematically attacked by a part of the media, accusing him of being unvaccinated, a negative example for everyone. I believe that all this has been intensely publicized only because Novak is the world number one and a measure taken against such a personality is a serious warning to those who do not want to think as they are dictated.

I have no doubt that the situation could be resolved quickly as soon as Djokovic arrived in Australia. It could be explained very clearly that access is only allowed to vaccinated people and they have to board the first plane home. But it was not like that. They quarantined him, they judged the first appeal of the visa revocation, after the favorable decision a minister revoked his visa (against a court decision!) and finally, the new appeal was rejected and the expulsion was ordered. Simple, isn’t it? Yes, it is very simple to demonstrate the political strength of an uncompromising state, in which the application of anti-pandemic rules is sacred. This would have been the case if, in recent months, several international celebrities, especially actors, had not been privileged to enter Australia, violating these rules.

What really saddened me were the interviews of some of Novak’s „colleagues.” Both Rafael Nadal and Stefano Tsitsipas have insulted their colleague, even saying that it is not possible for them to be considered idiots because they have been vaccinated and for Nole to be allowed to do what he wants.

What does the Djokovic case prove? That they are working hard to ban the right to think and express yourself freely. And for the great Novak, the proud Serbian, supported by many, the pressure continues, because he will not be allowed to play at Roland Garros, in France. This is an example that hard restrictions will soon come for all.

In that case, we should follow the slogan used at a rally in Bruges last Sunday: „Born to be free.” Indeed, we were born to be free, because this world does not belong to anyone here.

An overview of the today’s world shows that insecurity is the keyword that dominates our lives. Until? Only the so called leaders know. But we have a certainty on which to bet: the winner of the 2022 Australian Open won’t be Novak Djokovic.
